da Vinci Robotic Surgical System
Minimally Invasive Procedures Using the da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System
High Point OB/GYN is one of only a few practices in the Triad using the da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System.
This advanced, minimally invasive system is getting our gynecological patients back to their lives faster.
How Robotic Surgery Works
Despite its name, robotic surgery is actually performed by highly experienced, specially trained gynecologic surgeons who are assisted by an integrated system of advanced computer and robotic technologies.
Advantages of Robotic Surgery
Using this system, our surgeons have clearer visualization, dexterity and control, which may contribute to better patient outcomes. In addition, the minimally invasive technique offers other benefits, including:
- Shorter hospital stay
- Less pain
- Less risk of infection
- Less blood loss and transfusions during surgery
- Less scarring
- Quicker recovery and return to normal activities
High Point OB/GYN currently performs the following procedures using the da Vinci® Robotic Surgery System:
- Gynecologic Surgery
- Myomectomies (removal of fibroid tumors)
- Other procedures to treat patients with certain forms of pre-invasive gynecologic cancer
Preparing for Your Visit
To allow ample time for your visit, we prefer to see patients by appointment. Should you have a medical emergency during office hours, please let our receptionist know. She will make every effort to provide you with an emergency appointment. We participate with most major carriers as well as Medicare and Medicaid.
Referrals Your referral is the ultimate compliment of your trust in our practice. Our appointment book is always open for a friend or family member. We welcome new patients and encourage you to let us know if you make a referral.
Payment & Insurance
At the completion of your visit, you will be advised of the fees for the day and any prior balance. The cost of your visit is determined by the time we spend with you, the complexity of your condition, and by the lab tests necessary to properly diagnose and care for you. In an effort to keep our fees fair and reasonable, we request payment of the portion of the bill that is not covered by your health insurance plan on the date of your visit with our office.
Our office is a participating provider with most major health insurance plans. Our office staff will be able to tell you if your plan is accepted by our practice. As a courtesy to our patients, we will file claims to your insurance company and provide them information to determine benefits. It is the responsibility of you and your insurance company to pay your medical bills. If your primary insurance is Medicare, please be aware that some secondary insurance policies do not cover your deductible. We suggest that you review your insurance policies carefully to determine what benefits are covered. If you have a question concerning billing, please call Cornerstone Financial Services at 336 802-2000.
Electronic Medical Records
All Cornerstone practices are connected to each other through a company-wide electronic medical record. Our patients receive many advantages through this paperless records system. Your doctor has quick access to your medical record and is able to share your record with any Cornerstone specialist. Your doctor can determine which drugs are on your drug formulary and has access to formulary alternatives. They use the information in the electronic medical record to work with you to create a customized preventive health plan. This health plan will give you target dates to return for ongoing health checkups. Patient confidentiality is carefully maintained with the utmost respect for your privacy. Information regarding your medical care will not be released to anyone without signed consent.
If you need a prescription refill, please contact your pharmacy so they can call our office. This process allows our medical providers and pharmacy to review and complete your request more efficiently. Prescription refills, scheduling of routine appointments, and other non-urgent questions are handled each weekday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
