Dr. Mahaffey was awarded her Doctorate of Medicine by Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry with Magna Cum Laude honors from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY. She completed her residency training in Family Practice at Moses Cone Health System and served a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Moses Cone Health System. Dr. Mahaffey is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and American Medical Society of Sports Medicine.

Kathleen Rice, MD
Dr. Rice earned her Bachelor of Science degree, and a Master of Science degree in Food Science and Technology at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA. She was awarded her medical degree by Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. Dr. Rice completed residency training in Family Medicine at Moses Cone Hospital and a fellowship in Obstetrics at the Women’s Hospital of Greensboro.
Although she no longer handles obstetric deliveries, Dr. Rice continues to care for obstetric patients with medical or acute problems, and has extensive experience providing gynecological exams and treatment. Dr. Rice also has a special interest in caring for newborns, children and adolescents.
Dr. Rice is board certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians. She is also certified in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation, and Advanced Life Support for Obstetrics.

She had undergraduate training at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA and Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA. Sheri is certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants with a special recognition for achievements in Surgery. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants and Guilford Physician Extenders. Sheri has special interests in women’s health and common sports medicine injuries.

Corey D. Rustin, RN, MSN, FNP-C
Certified Family Nurse Practitioner Corey D. Rustin earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University and was awarded his Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Prior to joining Cornerstone, Mr. Rustin worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner with Cardiology, and Emergency Medicine. He served in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division, which included infantry duty during Operation Desert Storm/Shield, gaining him the rank of Sergeant. He is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, and holds certification in basic and advanced life support, and trauma nursing. He is a member of the North Carolina Nurses Association, Metrolina Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Amy received her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy with Honors from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree with honors from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She became a Certified Geriatric Practitioner in 2003. Amy is licensed by the NC Medical Board as a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner. Her primary area of practice is in diabetes management and she is board certified in diabetes by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE). She is an active member of the American Assoc of Diabetes Educators (AADE), the American College of Clinical Pharmacists (ACCP), and vice president of the NC regional chapter for AADE.
