Helgi Oskarsson, MD
Dr. Oskarsson received his undergraduate degree with special honors in biology and physics from Hamrahlid College in Reykjavik Iceland. He was awarded his medical degree from the University of Iceland. Dr. Oskarsson completed his internship at Regional Hospital in Akureyi, Iceland. He completed his senior residency in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Landspitalinn, University Hospital of Iceland, and at the department of Internal Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL. Dr. Oskarsson completed his Fellowship in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Dr. Oskarsson is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, in Cardiovascular Disease, with added qualifications in Interventional Cardiology. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Among his special interests are Interventional Cardiology and Preventive Cardiology.
Dr. Oskarsson has done extensive medical research encompassing the field of atherosclerosis and heart failure, and has published over forty scientific papers and abstracts related to his research findings.
