Podiatry

As podiatrists, our area of specialty involves the foot and ankle and their relationship to the health of the entire body. Many foot and ankle conditions are local, but these problems may affect other parts of the body. Moreover, many foot and ankle problems may be either the result of other health problems in the body or worsened by those health problems.

The body comprises a number of systems, many of which extend into the foot and ankle area. All body systems have some relationship with the foot and ankle. Among those that are of major concern in podiatry are the integumentary system, the musculoskeletal system, the nervous system and the cardiovascular system. While we primarily treat the problems affecting the foot and ankle, diseases and disorders of other systems are also of major concern to us. The most significant of these is the care of the foot in the patient with diabetes because it is crucial to the preservation of limb in this group of patients.

Appointments

Our office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Patients are seen by appointment only. Since certain complaints must be given priority, it is important that when you call for an appointment, you explain the nature of your problem. This will help us to schedule our time better and see you as rapidly and as efficiently as possible.

If you do not have an appointment but need to be seen right away, please call the office before coming. It is best to call between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Usually we can tell you the best time to come to avoid a long wait. If you drop in without an appointment, our schedule is disrupted and will delay patients with appointments. We ask that you advise us if you will be late or unable to make your appointment in order to help us maintain our timely schedule and as a courtesy to our other patients. If you must cancel, we request at least 24 hours notice so that we may give your appointment to another patient.

Patient Services

Telephone calls to our office are prioritized in order of medical urgency. If you require emergency care, please let our nurse know so that we may direct you immediately to our physician or to the hospital. One of our doctors is always available when the office is closed. If you call when the office is closed, you will receive the number for our answering service. The answering service will receive your call and forward your call to the doctor on call. If you have a routine question or problem that can wait, we ask that you call between 8:30 and 5:00 the next office day.

Our specialists believe that accurate diagnosis and treatment requires a physical examination and appropriate diagnostic testing. Therefore, it is not our policy to diagnose or treat foot and ankle problems over the phone. If you are having a medical problem, we request that you schedule an appointment to see one of our doctors.

If you need a prescription refill, you may contact our office. Your call will be returned as soon as the doctor reviews your chart and confirms your request.

Our staff is trained to answer many of your questions regarding foot and ankle care and consults with our providers on each call. Our doctors review their messages throughout the day. For the quickest response, they may request that our clinical staff return your call. If the doctor needs to speak directly with you, they may call at lunch or after hours.

Patient confidentiality is carefully maintained with the utmost respect for your privacy. Information regarding your medical care will not be released to anyone without signed consent.

Fees and Insurance

At the completion of your visit, you will be advised of the fee for today's service as well as any prior balance. The cost of your visit is determined by the time we spend with you, the complexity of your condition, and by any tests necessary to properly diagnose and care for you. In an effort to keep our fees at a just and reasonable level, we request payment of the portion of the bill that is not covered by your health insurance at this time.

Your insurance policy is a contract between you and your insurance carrier. It is the responsibility of you and your insurance company to pay your medical bills. As a courtesy to our patients, we will file claims to your insurance company, and provide them information to determine benefits. Your insurance deductible must be met and paid for at the beginning of each year before your insurance coverage will come into effect.

Our office is a participating provider with most major health insurance plans. Our office staff will be able to tell you if your plan is on the list of plans accepted by our practice.

If your primary insurance is Medicare, please be aware that some secondary insurance policies do not cover your deductible. We suggest that you review your insurance policies carefully to determine what benefits are covered.

If you have a question concerning billing, please call our office at (336) 802-2055 in High Point or (336) 625-3338 in Asheboro.
