Important State Health Plan Retiree Information
The State Health Plan has recently announced changes to health insurance carriers offered to its retiree population, and you may have just received a letter from the State announcing these upcoming changes. In short, retirees will automatically be enrolled in either a Humana Medicare PPO product or a United Medicare PPO product. At the end of September, retirees will receive another letter from the State Plan. This letter will inform retirees which insurance plan you have been assigned. Please be advised that Cornerstone Health Care will accept both Humana and United Medicare when your new plan is effective on 1/1/14.
If you wish to change from the plan to which you were assigned, you have the option to do so during open enrollment. Open enrollment will take place during the month of October, from 10/1/13- 10/31/13. If you do not make any changes, you will remain enrolled (effective 1/1/14) in the plan the state has assigned to you.
The State Plan is offering over a hundred outreach seminars to educate retirees on the new plans offerings. Please refer to the below websites to find more information and an educational seminar near you.
